LAUREL MYERS - SPORT & RECREATION COORDINATOR
Born and raised in the stunning Cow Bay (Home of the moose!), Laurel is no stranger to all the incredible opportunities that the HRM has to offer. As Sport & Recreation Coordinator, Laurel is responsible for the overall operation of all ages sport programming and services including day camps and child minding.
Laurel realized that working in recreation was her calling in the summer of 2018 when she worked as a day camp leader at the Horizon Rec Centre in Eastern Passage. What started as a summer job quickly turned into a passion! Since that summer, Laurel has held many roles out of Horizon Rec Centre. Some of her favorites include Program Assistant, Youth Leadership Coordinator, Skating Head Coach and some time at the front desk! As of October 2023, Laurel switched over to the Zatzman Sportsplex and we are so glad to have her!
Laurel is a proud graduate of Cole Harbour District High School. After graduating, she went on to study psychology at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. She has also played many sports including ringette, soccer, hockey, softball, and rugby.
When she is not watching the Sportsplex Pickleballers, Laurel loves to spend her free time with her friends and her dog, Cooper the Goldendoodle. She loves listening to all types of music (especially Taylor Swift), taking care of her plants and spending time at her family campground in Upper Musquodoboit.
Make sure to say hey to Laurel next time you are shooting hoops or bumping volleyballs in the gymnasium!
