LANA MCMULLEN - DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
No two days are the same in Lana’s position at the Sportsplex–and that’s EXACTLY why she loves it!
As our Director of Programs and Services, Lana McMullen oversees everything you do when you come into the facility as a guest or member. From the Welcome Desk to the pool deck, to the weight room, gymnasium, arena, and meeting rooms, Lana oversees our coordinators to ensure customer are getting the very best out of the facility.
With 25 years in municipal recreation under her belt, Lana has worked in HRM facilities like Gordon R. Snow Centre, Bedford-Hammonds Plains Community Centre, LeBrun Centre, Capt. William Spry Centre, and more. On top of her professional work experience in recreation and programming, Lana has tons volunteer experience in sport and rec, including coaching high school hockey, working with Recreation Nova Scotia, as well as the team that implemented the Shared Strategy for Recreation in Nova Scotia.
Lana is no stranger to higher education, with a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Saint Vincent University, a Bachelor of Recreation from Dalhousie University, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Dalhousie University. Her education combined with her hands-on work experience gives Lana not only the technical knowledge, but the people skills to run the very best programs and services at the Zatzman Sportsplex. Add in her passion for recreation and its impact on community health and wellness, and we know we’re in good hands!
In her spare time, Lana loves to get outside and hike, snowshoe, swim, and more. It’s not often you’ll find Lana without her sidekick and pride and joy, Jersey the yellow lab. Lana is so excited about the diversity of programs we’re offering (and will continue to build on) at the Zatzman Sportsplex, as well as our ability to think and work outside the box. If you’re in the weight room, you’ll likely see Lana in her office, working away on programs or meeting with folks in our community to show them what the Zatzman Sportsplex has to offer. Be sure to wave as you go by!
