Restrictions and Capacity Update

Earlier this week, the provincial government announced that facilities like the Sportsplex can return to 100% capacity, with physical distancing.

This does not mean we can return to 100% capacity as it was pre-COVID. We can increase our numbers in some areas if we maintain physical distance.

To provide a more detailed example:

Our aquatics centre has a maximum capacity that is over 300 people (fire regulations). If we were to return to these numbers, physical distancing would not be possible. Therefore, we will not be returning to pre-COVID maximum capacity at this time.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • You are still required to book all activities, through MyRec or in person at the Welcome Desk.
  • Physical distancing, wearing a mask, and frequent sanitizing are all still required.
  • We are moving our fitness classes back to their original space in the studios. Fitness classes' maximum capacity will remain at 12, except for Spin, which will be at 9. If there is a demand for more Spin spaces, we will look at adding another class.
  • The open swims will increase capacity as they are able. Other programming in the pool can impact the spaces available for open swims.

If there are any other significant changes, we will inform everyone!
