Re-Opening Plans Update 3

We are extremely excited to let the community know that our re-opening plan has been reviewed by the Province. The Zatzman Sportsplex has been cleared to re-open once we have all the necessary systems in place to ensure the safety of our staff and customers. Re-opening the facility will be done in stages.

Stage 1 will begin sometime during the week of June 22 and run for two weeks. The exact reopening date has not been selected. We will be open for a limited number of hours and activities to test our new systems and procedures. During this first stage we will be offering access to those people who were members when we shut down in March due to the COVID-19 crisis. We will be providing opportunities to use the fitness centre, fitness classes, track, racquetball and squash, and the gymnasium. The pool and the arena will remain closed until a later date that has not been determined. We will be providing detailed information on how to book time to come into the facility, the reduced hours the facility will be running under to allow enough time for additional cleaning, and what options you will have to participate in by email on Thursday June 18. At this time, we are still finalizing those details.

On the week of July 6, the facility will move into Stage 2 and be open to both past members and the general public.  Again, specific details on how to book space to use the facility, and what specifically will be available, will be published the week before.

During both stages all entries to the facility will have to be pre-booked online. Any payments must be made online at the time of your booking. The welcome desk will not be accepting payments directly during this time to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Locker rooms will not be available so those choosing to come in will have to come dressed for their activity.  The facility will also be running under reduced hours to ensure we have time to meet disinfection protocols.

We are still exploring if there are options to run day camp programs safely. Currently, camps must be able to guarantee that children are always able to physically distance while in the program, and we know this is not ideal. We will announce if we will be proceeding with day camps on Monday June 15.

We know everyone has questions. We will have more details for you next week about what will be available and how it will all work. Our phone lines are currently closed but we will be reopening them starting Thursday June 18, from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., to answer questions you have before the reopening.

We are looking forward to seeing people back in the facility and being active.  Please stay tuned on Monday evening for more information about summer camps and Thursday for updates on what we will be offering and how you can access it.
