THERAPY POOL CLOSED FOR REPAIR

Ann Marie West

A health and fitness enthusiast with years of experience under her belt (some spent at the old Sportsplex!), Ann Marie West brings knowledge and passion to our Welcome Desk team as one of our Welcome Desk Supervisors.

Our “early morning warrior”, Ann Marie is one of the first people to arrive at the Zatzman Sportsplex for our 5:30 a.m. weekday open time. Ann Marie prepares daily updates for the Welcome Desk staff, ensuring they know what’s happening in the facility. A community-oriented individual, Ann Marie loves getting to know the patrons and does her best to remember names and faces.

At the old Sportsplex, Ann Marie taught fitness classes like Pilates and Aquafit, and also worked in the weight room, administrative office, and in customer service. She has completed her Nova Scotia Fitness Association Certification and has completed courses and certificates with organizations such as the Canadian Aquafit Leaders Association and Canadian Fitness Appraisers and Stott Pilates. Ann Marie also holds a diploma in Bookkeeping and Accounting from NSCC.

Originally from Newfoundland, Ann Marie (and those who are around her most) say the accent still comes out occasionally, and she identifies with “newfies” and their social, fun nature. Ann Marie grew up with nine siblings and now has four grandsons of her own (who she can’t wait to bring to the Sportsplex to ride the waterslides!)

Teen Takeover Night is one of Ann Marie’s favourite parts about the new Zatzman Sportsplex, as she can’t wait to see youth using the facility to its full potential. She’s also happy to be a part of the Sportsplex community again, which she says has maintained a community feeling even while closed for renovations. If you see Ann Marie at the Welcome Desk, be sure to say “hi” and tell her about your customer service experience! She loves to hear praises and constructive feedback from customers (and will most likely remember your name next time you’re in!)
